In this first posting, I'd say that any strategy must boil down to education: of both children (in the local school) and adults (who are inclined to be conservative in their views, I hope it's not unfair to say). People don't really take global heating seriously and if they do, they don't think they can do anything about it.

So, Step 1: Education for all, in Welsh and English, because most people's first language here is Welsh. How might we achieve this? I hope to see some ideas in due course, remembering that this is a basic problem everywhere.

Step 2: lessening the need for transport. There are buses (there could be more) and there is a train service from Pwllheli to Birmingham. (Before Dr Beeching's railway destruction in the 1960s, there was a railway station in Llangybi!). But there are opportunities to buy local food already. More demand will mean more supply.

Step 3: getting the local council to assist people with thorough insulation of homes. Lean-to conservatories on south-facing houses make excellent passive solar installations and insulate as well.

Step 4: time for somebody else's input please.
