During 6 months the amount of cars running in the streets of cairo increased by 45% [June-December 2006]. This means that Carbon Dioxide levels in Cairo (a city fairly polluted anyway - and not enough public green spaces are available) is going to get worse. Why are more people driving? Because the public transport isn't doing what they want and need to run their lives. So. The answer? Better public transport initiatives and a real awareness amongst the population about how their individual actions effect their local communities (and their friends' lives, familiies' lives).
