Fluorescent Bulb by cayusa on flickr.com
We've not got very far with greening our house - not even replacing most of the light bulbs in our house with energy saving ones. Why not? The pathetic excuse was we couldn't find bulbs that fit our diverse range of lights - some candle bulbs, lots of halogen reflectors and other spotlights and so on. Plus we didn't like the horrible blue hue they gave everybody's face. The only energy saving bulbs we could get at our local suppliers were as big as a football and wouldn't fit anywhere.
But a bit of research on the Internet showed there's actually a huge range of shapes and sizes of energy saving lights available - lamps2udirect.com looks really good. There's some innovative ones from megamanuk.com that can even be dimmed. I am going to go around the house and do a mass order ... and see how much carbon it will save, and how much it will cost ... stay tuned...
