Envisat SCIAMACHY CO2 Data
As the seasons change, planet Earth almost seems to breathe in and out as far as greenhouse gases (GHGs) like CO2 are concerned. This astonishing pair of animations gleaned from new satellite data, shows clearly how CO2 and methane (a much more potent GHG) change during the year. The animation covers the three years from 2003 to 2005. By looking carefully, you can see that the CO2 levels are rising by about 0.5-1 percent from year to year.
