Woodgrain on an office door

.. and the material itself .... it has the tensile strength of steel, and yet can be cut, shaped and joined by most people using simple handtools. Unlike plastics and metal you can re-cycle this stuff at home - turn your wardrobe to a set of shelves, make a toy out of scrap material. And it comes with its own exquisite decorative pattern embedded in the material itself. You can generate energy from any waste material, or create compost from it.
Yes - I'm talking about WOOD. Go on - get some tools and have a go at making something. It's great fun, and has got to be the most climate friendly material ever!

carpentry, wood, woodwork
oh you nieve fool
using wood is not good for the environment at all!
do you have any idea how much energy is used to cut down the trees, treat the wood, and manufacture it into something, and not forgetting the energy used for all the transporting? its HUGE
people like you dont realise this.
metal and plastic are environmetnally freindly, and they havent been taken from anywhere that matters, they've came from the ground! plastic is especially good because it uses low amounts of energy to extract and manufacture, and its easily recyclable. metal isnt bad either, as it is even more recyclable.
oh and, wood might have have the tensile strength of steel, but for every other factor, it falls well short of steel by a mile.
