A greener scooter drives into town

|
A pioneering eco-friendly scooter will make its debut in east London next week as part of the global effort to cut carbon emissions.
The Vectrix Super-Scooter is electrically powered and will be unveiled at New Spitalfields Markets in Brushfields street on Monday.
The scooter is powered by a rechargeable electric motor that will allow owners to travel for 68 miles after charging the motor for just two hours.
Owners will be able to recharge their bikes at 300 points around London by the end of 2007.
The scooter which will retail at £6,930 also has an estimated battery life of 10 years and a top speed of 62mph.
The bike will be exempt from road tax and riders will also be able to avoid the congestion charge making it a greener and cheaper option.
The project which has taken ten years to complete will use 20p worth of electricity for every 68 miles.

Hi Serena
Thanks for your comment I'll correct the article. Hi,
I saw this feature as I am working on the launch of this product - New Spitalfields Market is actually in Brushfields st, E1 (nearest tube Liverpool St) and not in Leyton as mentioned. |
This is great news, thanks Nicholas for this precious information. A bit expensive but think of all the money you can save on petrol e most important of all, you nearly reach impact zero on the environment.
