I am looking to set up a community garden here in Sydney, yeah i know in Aussie, but i tell you what , aussie is really feeling the heat, excuse the pun. Just to let you know, our Prime Minister, who at this time last year was deniing the environmental issues and saying that we still needed proof. It wasnt till the beginning of this year admitted anything, has now been quoted in saying that Australians will have to start growing their own food, with the drought that is happening , we wont be able to afford food!!
So I thought well, lets take your advice. I am thinking of setting something up like some people are doing in NY and/or take the advice from Cuba. Thinking if we could get our councils on side and also 'youth off the streets' 'wesley mission' and such organisations to all chip in and work to set up gardens in vacant lots, reserves and the like, and getting the whole community involved. I have already spoke to the council and they think its a good idea, excpet they would like to see successful gardens going and go from their. I heard in London there are already something like this happening aswell? That is sopposed to be going really well? Does anybody have information on that?
