Tony Blair is leaving many legacies for Gordon Brown, including the approximately 2% rise in UK carbon emissions since Labour came to power in 1997. Help him start off on the right foot by demanding a Climate Bill that really works. Join Campaign against Climate Change (CCC) local groups and a variety of local organisations focusing on climate change at 2.00 pm on Saturday, June 30th, in Parliament Square for a "Gordon Brown Coronation Ceremony".
The CCC believes there must be a set annual target so economic issues cannot be passed from one government to another. With new developments and the optimism of more solutions, the CCC proposes a minimum of 80% by 2050.
Colin Challen, MP for one of the eight parliamentary constituencies in Leeds, will be speaking at Parliament Square as part of a national day for local actions (see www.campaigncc.org/local.html). Other events on that day: a Climate Carnival held by the Manchester CCC at the PeaceGardens (http://www.gmcacc.org.uk/), "Cut the Carbon" Cyclecade at the Sheffield City Centre (contact Sheffield CCC at rebeccabryson
