The village of Cotesbach is home to the Endosures Riot of 1607, the largest non-violent environmental protest on record. Four-hundred years later, the town is taking the opportunity to bring the community together and draw attention to today’s environmental issues with all-day activities. Historic re-enactments, sustainability workshops, craft demonstrations, art exhibitions, local food and a musical performance from Rory McLeod are planned. The Transition Town Lewes is hosting a Powerdown Party at 7pm that will feature solar-powered music by Southern Sailor, viewing of the Live Earth performance and an exclusive address from Al Gore. The Merton Climate Forum is a local initiative to raise awareness and engage people in practical individual action to tackle climate change. From 11am on, Merton Hall and Playing Field will host a Climate Forum tent presenting information and advice on energy savings, displays of low carbon domestic heating and energy techniques and a showing of the Live Earth concert. Techniquest is a hands-on science centre in Caridff Bay and invites others to join their unique atmosphere.
