RSA Carbon Control Limited
Image by Royal Society for ArtsClimate change can be an overwhelming subject, and any adult can feel bombarded by the facts and theories. That is why it is refreshing to come across a website designed specifically for children, which makes "tomorrow’s climate, today’s challenge." It is a proverbial fact that today’s youth will be responsible for correcting the harm caused by previous generations, and providing the groundwork for basic education is necessary.
The Carbon Control Project (www.carboncontrol.org.uk), organised by the RSA in partnership with Tesco and the Department of Environment Food and Rural Affairs, has been designed for children off all ages, with links for parents and teachers. Children can track their carbon footprint using a calculator called the "Carbonator". It asks question like: How do you get to school every day? How many TV sets are in you home? It is designed to be an educational tool, so the results are less detailed and more conceptual. Solutions are provided with the results, like suggesting to turn off the TV or lights when they are not being used.
Children can easily register and become members of the site, enabling them to post "projects", or ideas to spark change. These projects can be viewed by all and are open to comments and encouragement. It is a great way for children to see the changes their peers are making. In addition, the best ideas will be selected by a judging panel and voted on to select the school proposing the best project. The competition started on the 5th of June and runs til the 31st of July. Prizes include a school green makeover, group trips and eco-gadgets for the winners.
Even without the incentive of amazing rewards, every child that uses this site will walk away with priceless education on how to preserve the world that they have the ability to change.

I think this is a great idea for children to learn about the environment and its many changes. thanks for the information.
