
The absence of an official Dutch Live Earth podium, does not mean all it will stay quiet in Amsterdam. Ten of thousands are to gather at the western outskirts of the city (Westerpark) to raise their voice against climate change.
At the festival visitors will be watching concerts from all over the world on big screens. In between Madonna and other big names, local dj Fedde Le Grand and the Netherlands’ best known rapper Ali B will perform on stage. Moreover, stand up comedians, politicians and other Dutch public figures will discuss global warming; The main theme being what people themselves can do against climate change.
Climate neutral dance floor
In that same light, at the Energy Village located on the festival grounds one can ‘’sacrifice’’ energy inefficient appliances. A group of recycle artist will use all collected devices to build a new appliance. Furthermore, Dutch Spirit, the world’s first climate neutral clothing company, will host a fashion show.
Afterwards visitors to Live Earth Alert can have a beer at the ‘’wet feet court’’, as well as generate some positive energy by getting down on the climate neutral dance floor.In addition, all visitors can experience how much energy is required to illuminate a light bulb or to run a laundry machine by cycling through a living room.
