Because when tiny actions get together, they can form large movements..

So individual initiatives coming from every individual are important!!

They can do magic!

People need motivation. Recycling is the first step for many people.

We have to help people take the next steps ... Choosing a climate-friendly diet is also very empowering!

yes, lead by example. you can definatly change things about the community around you by doing small things.

Recycling is very helpful for a number of reasons. It challenges us to reconsider the effects of our consumption. Recycling helps to put each of us on a path where we allow ourselves to think about what we are using and the consequences of our actions. It is one of many beneficial, individual actions that really can make a difference towards changing how we see ourselves and our roles as humans.

Every action counts. If people start to believe that little things like switching lights off when you leave a room, getting on your bike instead of using the car, recycling rubbish etc don't really help much then they will stop doing it. Little actions are a starting point.

Let's not criticise the ones making perhaps only a tiny effort because if all those people stop doing that we'll lose the fight to save the planet. Let's support every effort and encourage to do more.

It's too easy to say that little things don't count. Here are a a few that do:

- Putting a ballot in an election box

- Emailing your MP / representative and asking to meet them

- Taking 5 minutes to switch to a green energy provider

- Saying thank you

- Giving leaders permission to lead

- Making your business and your green, one step at a time...

Small actions cannot save the climate. While they help reduce emissions, the huge base of emissions will never come down by encouraging people to use less energy. In effect, we need to transform electricity sources and our forms of mobility while dramatically boosting efficiency. And we need to do it globally. Every fossil fuel plant needs to be shut down. And people have to pay that cost (75% from the developed world).

That's a nice metaphor, Geetha, and I'm inclined to agree with you. I think the point of the original article was that many people think little things are all they need to do to solve the global warming problem. Because (the thinking might go) you recycle your rubbish, you can then fly off for a holiday on the other side of the world!
