i remember since my child hood i never wore half sleeves in diwali but this diwali was different as i wore shorts and half sleeves clothes. i sleep in night with fan on. mosqitoes are not usually seen around diwali but this year they are still around.

That's a question many people ask but unfortunately, it can't be easily answered. We're all 'sensitised' to unusual weather patterns these days and it's very easy to make the assumption that a longer-than-usual warm spell is an indication of global warming. The problem comes when you consider the difference between weather and climate. Weather is the day to day condition of the atmosphere including temperature, rainfall and wind whereas climate is the average weather conditions of a place or region, usually measured over one year. The longer the unusually warm weather you mention keeps going, the more likelihood there is that it is indeed a signal of global warming. Shorter term 'heat waves', torrential rains and so on are often connected with the position of the jet stream, a fast-moving belt of air around 11 kilometres above the ground. Jet streams control how major weather systems move, forming at the boundaries between air masses.
