Thought these might be good examples of interest for One Climate Members:  three specific practical attempts to engage citizens in environmental ethics issues by simply appealing to common interests: having family fun in a unique setting like a Wildlife Preserve and talking about FOOD!

Presentation: What you can do about climate change in Florida

When: 6:00 pm to 8:30 pm

Where: Artserve Building/Kids Ecology Corps' offices in large Auditorium, 1350 E. Sunrise Blvd., Fort Lauderdale, 33304.

Ages: 10 and up

Details: The Kids Ecology Corps presents National Wildlife Federation speaker, Captain Dan Kipnis for his noted environmental presentation and workshop. Tutored by former Vice President Al Gore, Captain Dan has been giving a series of talks on Climate Change to hundreds of environmental organizations across the country with special emphasis on coastal regions and the effects of climate change on our oceans. 

This event is especially for students, parents and teachers as well as all community members who want to learn more about how global climate changes will affect our communities and environment in the near future.

“Walking Wild in the Everglades” is this year’s theme for the 9th Annual Everglades Day Festival at the Arthur R. Marshall (ARM) Loxahatchee National Wildlife Refuge, located at 10216 Lee Road, off State Road 7/US 441, 3 miles north of Atlantic Avenue, 2 miles south of Boynton Beach Boulevard.

Visitors are invited to celebrate Florida’s natural wonder on Saturday, February 9, 2008, from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm. This day long event is free and promises to be a wonderful outing for friends and families while promoting an understanding as well as an appreciation of Bio-diversity, sustainable energy and the Everglades.
