Notes from meeting on 31st January
GRANT FOR LORD WILLIAMS'S SCHOOLIt was agreed to donate £500 to the school towards installation of solar panels on the science block.
ACTION: Maureen and Tanya
It was decided to use this donation to encourage other groups to engage in environmental projects and apply to us for a grant. A press release was drafted to be forwarded to the Head teacher for approval and details of the project, then forwarded to the Thame Gazette.

SUPPORTING LOCAL SCHOOLS TO BE GREENERWe discussed how we could support our local schools in becoming greener. Most schools appear to be somewhere along the road in this process, (we do not know about the Risborough schools or
We would like to appoint a representative of our group to liaise with each school, so that we can offer support, and they can ask us for help and support.

Please come forward if you are able to cover one of our local schools. There are plenty of ideas and support materials available.
Tim indicated that he was willing to go into a school to advise as he has a lot of experience with setting up ECO status at his own Grammar school in
ECO ST are happy to take their low energy light bulb library into schools and utility companies such as Thames Water can also give support with water saving ideas such as fitting economic taps.
LOW ENERGY LIGHT BULBSLast year we surveyed local public buildings to find out if they offered recycling and had fitted low energy light bulbs.
We decided to use this information to inform those who have not changed over to low energy light bulbs that ECO ST can visit them with their low energy light bulb library, and we can inform them of any possible grants available to help with the cost of replacing their light bulbs.

BIG ASK DAY OF ACTIONWe MUST keep up the pressure on our Climate Change campaigning. This is clearly the biggest environmental threat the world has ever faced.
Our next Day of Action is on Saturday 5th April.
It involves a photo call with our MP and/or other VIP calling for the Government to include shipping and aviation in their CO2 reduction targets in the new Climate Law.
Help will be needed on the day for 1 or 2 hours at the most.

SWAP SHOP
Saturday 8th March 10am – 12 noon.
Your chance to recycle unwanted clothes, bric-a-brac, toys, books, small items of furniture etc., but must be in reasonable condition. Just bring along anything you don't want and take away anything you do want from the Swap Shop.
There will also be recycling bins for the following:
Foil, batteries, mobile phones and printer cartridges, reading glasses, stamps and old and foreign coins.
