Métalectrique SAS demonstated a safe aluminium battery chemistry at the Paris Salon for innovation in June 2007. The battery was made from a waste aluminium can coupled with a special electrode. The result was that the device powered a fan non-stop for the whole day's salon. We reconnected the battery at our lab in Argenton sur Creuse and it ran for another 26hrs before we ended the experiment. We examined the parts and found that it had suffered no damage and consequently we calculated that it would have powered the fan for about 2 weeks non-stop.

We have designed and developed a new battery which provides useful power and can use waste aluminium. This was done primarily for Africa where there is an urgent need for a little power. Our battery is a zero CO2 device (see www.metalectrique.com) and it is free to run if you have a supply of water and some waste aluminium (as in Africa). If handled carefully the battery will last for several years. Also it produces a waste product that can be sold into the aluminium recycling chain.

You can connect several TP3's together to increase the power for pumping or communications etc.

The system runs at an ambient temperature and is non-toxic, safe to operate and refuel and is silent in operation.

Please have a look at our 'TP3' on YouTube under 'zero CO2' or follow the link below.

We can now put the lights on in Africa.
