Simplify your life! Only keep the things you use the most or enjoy on a regular basis!
Reduce purchases - Think about what you want and what you need - try not to buy too much of what you want and look at whether you need it or not. It will reduce rubbish and reduce how much you hoard.
Have a tree-free home! - Reuse used paper for note paper; write messages to roomates or family on a whiteboard or other reusable item; dont buy paper napkins/plates/cups; try to do printing on paper you dont need anymore or easily biodegradable paper; purchase bleach free toilet paper; make your own cards/letters using pre used paper or other craft items; wash and reuse cloth napkins, towels etc rather than buying paper ones.
Buy bulk - Try to buy things in bulk rather than in single servings - muesli bars, juice etc
Avoid trash - avoid creating trash, for example when ordering take aways, avoid asking for extra straws, napkins etc
Shopping bags - Bring your own plastic ones back for reuse or buy reusable fabric bags and use them instead.
Opt out of junk mail - put a sign on your mailbox "no circulars" and dont subscribe to things that are pointless.
Pack a waste free lunch - use reusable plastic containers rather than food wrap.
Carry a mug with you for drinks rather than using paper/plastic cups.
Hold garage sales - one mans trash is another mans treasure.
Buy reusables - Buy leg shavers that you only need to replace the head rather than single use razers, reusable diapers, bags, towels, writing things etc
Donations - donate your old clothes, toys etc to the salvation army or a similar group.
Recycle - recycle plastics, glass, paper products or buy recycled products.
Food - Buy organic or low gi food, its healthier for you and the environment.
Consider becoming a vegetarian - eat less meat as animals produce healthy gasses that keep the environment clean and healthy.
Conserve energy - Turn off or store away unused electrical appliances, chart the number of litres of gas or kms driven each week/month.
Conserve water - there are many ways to do so! Collect rain water for farm water etc.
