Attitude to Climate Change
Peak Oil and Climate Change are the two inextricably linked crises of today which governments, communities and individuals cannot and must not ignore. With that knowledge comes the requirement to act. This is a call to action to collectively pool our strength of commitment, to information-share, learn and assist each other as we push to make our and the lives of others on this planet sustainable. As individuals we have great potential, collectively we can do so much more. We can and must change the world. For that is what is required, and it is required in our lifetime. This is about doing. Doing now. That is why I have set up WISE Women - Women in Sustainability and the Environment. Wise Women is a new network formed to bring together women who are working in, are concerned about and want to do more about sustainability and the environment. WISE Women’s starting point are it’s three pillars; Support, Learning and Connecting. WISE Support: The WISE Women Mentoring is intended as not just as a vertical support mechanism but also to work horizontally – across and between us as well as for those coming along behind us. WISE Learning: Speaker events will provide the opportunity to fill knowledge gaps. If you have a suggestion of a speaker you know, want to hear, or know of a good venue, please email me. WISE Connecting: Monthly informal meetings over drinks and a yahoo chat network. The WISE WOMEN website (http://www.wisewomen.me.uk) is intended to be a portal to access useful information, discover what events are forthcoming, provide useful links and act as a starting point for all women to become actively engaged with environmental and sustainability issues. It is intended that WISE WOMEN will have wide and mainstream application, being open to all women at all levels of interest in the environment. Membership is free, your involvement is as much or as little as you require. We look forward to seeing you there.
